Rules Questions and Answers

Crash by Crash

Q: Can I place operator on the bell by playing "Flying duthchman"card.

A: No, you can only place it on unoccupied cell. There can be neither  car nor bell on the cell.

Q: The magnetic pull works after each action?

A: Yes, you take your first action, that the magnets pull cars, than you take second action, and the magnetic cars pull again.

Q: How do the magnetic cars actually work? My initial idea is that you look in all six directions and pull the first car in each direction one space toward the magnetic car – is this correct? I'm no longer sure after rereading the rules and seeing this: "Magnetic cars can exert a force on up to 6 cells. The respective 6 cells are marked on diagram 5." I highlighted the word "cells" because a look at the diagram shows influence only on the cells that are two away from the location of the magnetic car. So these cars will move one space toward the magnetic car, then stop – moving again only if the magnetic car moves one space away, thereby leaving the other car in range. Is this second description correct?

A: The second description is correct, the magnetic cars really pull only cells "two away from the location" and not further. It usually means that the magnetic car is placed on the board, than it pulls some cars towards it and that is it for the rest of the game.

Q: The rules state that if a standard car is pulled by two magnetic cars, then it doesn't move. That's understandable – but what about the situation in which a car moves as a result of a magnetic car and is then in range of the other magnetic car? (Take diagram #5, and place the other magnetic car in row four in the very left and a standard car in the top row in the second space from the left.) Does the standard car move once and not again? Does it move twice? Does it not move at all?

A: If the car is pulled by one magnetic car to the range of the other magnetic car it does not move again. It is considered to be under magnetic influence of both of them, so the special rule applies.

Q: For the card "Dead Accumulator," does it stay in effect for only one turn, or until the opponent moves? That is, what does "his next move" specifically mean?

A: You remove one of the opponents accumulators immediatelly AND during the opponnents next turn he can not use any accumulator to enforce the push. His next turn consist of his 2 actions after you have finished your turn.

Q: When moving the operator, what happens if you bump  car onto a bell after moving the operator only 1 or 3 spaces? Do you complete the operator's move first? Do you lose that extra movement point?

A: Scoring event finishes the action, so the extra movement is lost. In the most complicated case the scoring event  may split turn into two parts like thi

  1. first action
  2. scoring event
  3. second action

Q: To clarify the note under the "Player's turn" section, does the phrase "the first action may be repeated" mean: 1. The first action that the player took on a turn? 2. Or the first action in the list of four (i.e. placing a car on the board)?

A: The first action that the player took on a turn may be repeated. In the case that the repeated action is an action: "Placing a car" player looses 4 points.

Q: The cost of moving the operator four spaces doesn't make sense as I can move the operator two spaces with my first action and two spaces with my second to avoid the point penalty.

A: Surely you can avoid the point penalty but you loose one action as well. It is up to you if you want to do so.

Q: Can you cause bumping with the card "Free Ride"? I ask because you bump a neighbor when placing a car on the board adjacent to another car. Free Ride lets me move a car into an empty cell, but that cell might have neighbors, so would bumping occur in this situation?

A: No, it is not possible. Bumping only occurs after placing a car on the board.
